JEWELRY | THE CLADDAGH COLLECTION
The Claddagh is an iconic emblem of Ireland, rumored to have been created by Richard Joyce, a fisherman from Claddagh, Galway, who was captured by pirates and sold into slavery in the 17th century. During his captivity, Joyce learned the craft of metalworking and fashioned the first Claddagh ring as a token of love for his sweetheart back home. After his release, he returned to Claddagh, where his love had been faithfully waiting. They married, and the ring came to symbolize their love (heart), friendship (hands), and loyalty (crown).
